Ryan Zizzo is the Canada Green Building Council’s 2026 Green Building Champion

We’re incredibly proud to share that our founder and CEO, Ryan Zizzo, has been recognized as the 2026 Green Building Champion by the Canada Green Building Council (CAGBC) at this year’s Building Lasting Change Gala in Montréal. Ryan received the award on June 18, 2026 for his contributions to advancing the industry’s understanding and implementation of embodied carbon solutions.

While Ryan may be the one accepting the award, the work it recognizes has always been a team effort. Over the years, the Mantle Climate team has had the privilege of collaborating with forward-thinking clients, partners, municipalities, industry organizations, researchers, and policymakers, all working to accelerate the transition to a lower-carbon built environment.

From leading and shaping embodied carbon requirements in building standards and policies, to supporting innovative projects across Canada, we’ve seen firsthand what can happen when people come together around a shared goal: building a more sustainable future.

The CAGBC’s Building Lasting Change conference was a timely reminder of how much the market has shifted. High-quality, affordable green buildings now exist in every region of this country, across every asset class and climate. That progress is the result of bold decisions, rigorous implementation, and a shared commitment to raising the bar.

In his acceptance remarks, Ryan highlighted both the headwinds facing the sector and the reasons for optimism:

“It’s important to recognize that it’s been a very difficult year for climate professionals. We’ve seen climate policy rolled back across the country and at all levels of government.

But let’s not forget about the incredible progress we’ve made. We HAVE shifted the market. We have the solutions, the proof, and the team.”

It’s a powerful reminder that while there is still much work ahead, the built environment is being transformed to be lower carbon and more resilient—and that progress is worth celebrating.

We’re grateful to the CAGBC for this recognition and for continuing to create space for the conversations, collaboration, and leadership that move our industry forward.

Thank you to everyone we’ve had the opportunity to work alongside. This recognition belongs to the broader community of people pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in green building.
